Specific to our business areas TE&I has recognised that the Strategic Landscape indicates that the sustainability of the African Energy & Infrastructure sectors to deliver on its national and regional mandate is in the midst of a crisis. This crisis threatens our socio-economic landscape, both through direct and indirect implications; which is by virtue due to the inherent national dependency on these sectors and the security of supply thereof; all of which enables day to day social and commercial “way of life” and provides a “license to operate”.

Who

Tsiko Energy & Infrastructure is a 100% African owned entity with Southern African. TE&I was established to be spearheaded by a balanced strategic mandate; which is to enable both the energy and infrastructure commercial and developmental needs of the country and business sectors that it operates in.

What

Pursuant to the above and supported by the relevant technical, operational, commercial, human capital and financial resources, TE&I has business interests in the sectors of finished products supply, logistics, rail, advisory services, infrastructure and clean energy.

Leadership

Mr Pragasen Naidoo - Chief Executive Officer Tsiko Africa Energy & Infrastructure

Mr. Pragasen Naidoo, is a qualified professional who holds a tertiary academic record of a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering.

Mr Naidoo’s industry service record spans greater than 20 years; serving both in the private and public sectors and primarily based in the oil, gas, logistics, energy and infrastructure industries. Such service record includes working and residing both Nationally (South Africa) and Internationally (Southern Africa, Middle East, Europe, United Kingdom and the United States of America). Amongst others; entities working for and with th being, amongst others; Sasol, Transnet, Eskom, PetroSA, Central Energy Fund, Chevron, Sasol, Shell, BP, ORYX GTL, Escravos GTL, Uzbekneftigaz, CNPC, GazProm, ENH Mozambique, INP Mozambique, etc…

Mr Naidoo’s key roles, amongst others, during service includes Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operations Officer, Business Development Officer, Project Director, Technical Director, Technology Licensor and Engineering Manager. Exposure in the various geographic locations together with working with and for multiple entities in the diverse roles has afforded me the privileged opportunity; to DO and LEAD. Areas of work included executive management, HSEQ, human capital management, change and culture management, policy development, strategy development, stakeholder mgt., operations and project execution. Further, the exposure gained over the service period has provided the necessary expertise to conduct successful commercial delivery; that which includes investment, supply chain and operations projects together with business optimisation and turnaround interventions.

Mr Maibongwe Reeboh Mandela - Business Development

Mr. Mandela is an accomplished entrepreneur who formed part of a number of successful startups with interests in the minerals and resources sectors.

He has successfully packaged and negotiated numerous mineral and energy sector-based multimillion-dollar transactions throughout the EMEA region.

He is the former VP of Business Development for Homeland Energy, a company listed on the Canadian Securities Exchange, as well as a founding director of Energetic Petroleum (Pty) Ltd.

Mr. Mandela is an astute deal maker with extensive experience in negotiating concessions, deal making, project packaging, and finance. He is a highly- networked entrepreneur with relationships throughout the EMEA region in both the public and private sectors.

Mr Fritz Orren - Director Tsiko Africa Energy & Infrastructure, Orren Capital (YNF Engineering)

Mr. Orren is a director of Orren Captial, an investment holding company with interests in Mining, Rail Refurbishment & Maintenance, Telecommunications, Electrical Maintenance & Engineering, Real Estate, Food & Beverage.

Mr. Orren directs the company with a strong and comprehensive network of business partners across the Globe and with a business team with several years of investment and management experience in multiple industries.
In addition to Orren Capital, Mr. Orren is also involved with YNF Engineering, a rail engineering and maintenance company, part of the Orren Group.

Miss Thuli Nhlapo CA(SA) - Executive Corporate Finance

Thuli is a seasoned chartered accountant with over 15 years’ work experience predominantly in Deal-making and Corporate Finance. She is skilled in executing and developing diverse transactions for medium sized to large companies, from feasibility stage to mature operations.

After completing her articles at Ernst & Young Inc in 2009 and working in the Transaction Advisory Services team post articles, she joined the National Empowerment Fund in 2011 and transitioned from an Investment Analyst to a Senior Investment Associate over 6.5 years. Thuli then moved on to LVV Capital to work as an independent Transaction Advisory consultant, before joining Avacap as the Corporate Finance Executive in 2019.

She has developed a strong network of contacts in the Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Finance & Capital Raising space, having concluded more than 30 deals with a combined value of over R12 billion. Her experience of sitting on some investee company Boards, being a member of the dti Black Industrialists Committee appointed by the Minister of Trade & Industry and chairing various Project Steering Committees, adds value to clients by providing strategic direction and innovative solutions to business structuring.

Ms Tasha Bezuidenhout (LLB) - Executive Commercial and Legal

Tasha is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa, with a diverse legal background with more than 13 years’ experience in Legal and 5 years executive management experience.

She has work within various of industries among others, as a legal executive of a group of companies in the multi-built environment, infrastructure development, public sector and international consultancy company. She is well versed in providing legal advice and guidance to the Companies, Board’s and/or Executive Committees on changes in relevant regulatory and legislative frameworks, bespoke commercial agreements, business transactions and related risk items.
She negotiated and worked on multi-billion-rand projects and has an advance knowledge of PFMA, MFMA and treasury legislation/regulations. She has established offices and legal frameworks for entities throughout Africa.

Advanced experience encompasses Legal Compliance, Corporate Governance, Litigation management, Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, Public Procurement, Project Management and Commercial Drafting.

Mr Kumuran Naidoo - Business Development

Mr. Naidoo is an experienced executive with over 30 years’ experience in executive and senior management roles. His management roles were diverse and consisted of Managing executive for a Fire Solutions and Products business, Executive Director for Tsiko Africa Group, Business Development Executive for a large listed Logistics and Supply Chain Management business, Senior Manager for a strategy and supply chain consulting firm and a Director and professional engineer for a civil and structural engineering firm.

Mr Naidoo’s experience extends across many industry sectors and has focused on engineering, consulting and supply chain management and logistics. Mr. Naidoo’s experience includes:

  • Business development and management in key market sectors including Renewable Energy (Hydrogen, Wind and Solar), Energy (Power Generation and Transmission sector), Infrastructure, Mining, Oil & Gas (Upstream and downstream), Automotive, Banking, Retail, Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics, Rail, Telecommunications, Security, Fire Solutions, Government
  • Executive management for mature, newly acquired and start-up businesses
  • Engineering management for civil engineering businesses, programme and project management for civil engineering or large-scale engineering projects
  • Consulting including strategy, procurement, and supply chain and logistics.
  • Business development, sales management, and solution development, commercials, pricing, financial modelling, risk and governance and implementation management
  • Supply chain management and logistics management

Mr. Naidoo holds an MBA and a BSc Engineering (Civil Eng.) degree.

Dr. Kinesh Pather – Executive Chairperson Tsiko Africa Group

Dr. Pather has extensive relationships in the mining, commercial and finance sectors of SA and in various parts of the Globe.

Dr. Pather began his experience in the trade union investment arena – he was previously the CEO of the Chemical and Petroleum Union Investment Company (CEPPAWAWU Investments). Dr. Pather played a key role in the transformation of the Healthcare Pharma sector with Aspen Pharmacare and the Petroleum sector over the last 20 years and built relationships, with Major Oil Companies and Financiers in this sector.

He assisted Total South Africa in formulating its empowerment strategy and approach and is also currently Chair of the BEE shareholder in Total SA.

Dr. Pather was instrumental in the deal structuring of Impala Platinum’s Marula Platinum Mine BEE transaction and led the consortium to acquire a stake in Marula Platinum in 2005.

Dr. Pather holds the position of Chair of the TSIKO AFRICA GROUP of companies, which houses a multitude of strategic investments in Telecoms, Technology, Services, Logistics and the Oil & Gas sectors and through Plateau Helium is concluding various helium onshore exploration permits in SA.

Dr. Pather is also the Chairman of Likamva Resources, which is a shareholder in Arcelor Mittal South Africa, Chairman of Kilimanjaro Capital which is a shareholder in Total Energies SA, Director of Tubatse Platinum a shareholder in Marula Platinum, and Chairman of Marula Community Chrome holding a significant shareholding in Makgomo Chrome.

Dr. Pather holds a BDS (Wits) and an MBA (Milpark- Dissertation outstanding).

Mr Anand Moodliar – CEO Barberry Holdings, Director Tsiko Africa Group

Mr. Moodliar has occupied many key positions within the national railway of South Africa for over 10 years, with his last position in 2005 being the General Manager of TFR (formally Spoornet) National Operating Centre.

The Barberry Group of companies (Level 1 BBBEE contributor) that he leads are focused on Rail Siding and Logistics Management for various mines. Currently under contract they have in excess of 2 million tons of different commodities per annum to various ports and domestic destinations. The group strives to create employment and currently has a staff complement of over 100 employees.

He is passionate about optimising Supply Chains that are biased towards rail performance through Collaboration Initiatives focused on trust, transparency, technology, team-work and capacitated through focused investments. Mr. Moodliar held various positions including:

  • The Small Business Development Corporation (Business partners) – Various positions including Accounting and Business Development (1986 – 1993)
  • Transnet Freight Rail: General Manager of National Operations Centre and previous various Management and Executive Management positions (1993 – 2005)
  • Barberry Group – Group Chief Executive (2007 to present)
  • Barloworld Logistics Rail JV – Head (2015-2017)

Mr Moodliar has a Bachelor of Commerce and Certificates in Logistics Management and Iternational Logistics Management.

Mr. Moodliar is also a member of the Young President’s Organisation (YPO).

Mr Ashoken Govender– CFO Barberry Holdings
